The website continues to operate even after being banned by switching to a series of new web addresses.

Tamilrockers.com is a torrent website which provides illegal download and streaming of content such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Bollywood movies and TV shows. The notorious creators of the website have been known to release movies from several genres and regions within days after the movie is released in theatres.
Tamilrockers: The website is said to be inspired by internationally recognised Pirate Bay, from where people could download any movie, be it Hollywood, Bollywood, or regional.

Though the website was founded in India, sources say that the website had contributors from across the globe. The movies on the site are uploaded by the contributors after the movie print is recorded from any local theatre.
