Mobile Phone Misuse Tackled by Scottish Educators

The Scotsman reports that schools are becoming more concerned about the potential for mobile phone misuse by children using camera and video phones to invade privacy of teachers and fellow students, and even bully other students.

As a result the The Educational Institute of Scotland has sent a "guidance pack" with a number of policies on mobile use to all schools in Scotland.

One concern is with the practice of "happy-slapping" in the playground. This is where camera phone images and video clips are uploaded to sites like Youtube.com where they can be viewed by thousands or even millions of people.

This is also happening to teachers -- they are being photographed or videoed without their knowledge.

In the eyes of Educational authorities this is clearly an unwanted invasion of privacy and must be policed by teachers and school staff members.
